Must be REGISTERED IN BOTH AB AND OB. Must have and maintain registration with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) in abdomen, and OB/Gyn. Graduate of an AMA approved ultrasound program or evidence of 3 years of ultrasound experience. Performs quality diagnostic ultrasound procedures. Assists radiologist with ultrasound-guided interventional procedures. Able to assist fellow technologists with general diagnostic radiology in accordance with established standards and policies when the ultrasound schedule allows and as appropriate per licensure. 1. Performs diagnostic ultrasound exams: a. Follows guidelines approved by Lakes Regional Healthcare and staff radiologists. b. The radiology staff member must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed by the patient. c. Appropriately identifies the patient and communicates instructions regarding the procedure(s) in accordance with the patient's age, stage of growth and development. d. Properly selects the correct ultrasound parameters. e. Recognizes pertinent clinical questions and history understanding the goal of the exam. f. Performs ultrasound independently with correct measurements and proper understanding of protocols. g. Properly identifies and labels images. h. Assists fellow radiology technologists with general radiology procedures (as licensure allows) and handles early morning and late afternoon office staffing needs
