Top Summer Destinations for Allied Travelers

Summer is officially upon us—sunlight and warm weather have become a more frequent (hopefully) part of our lives. Still, more importantly, there are nationwide allied travel opportunities for the taking! To get you jumpstarted on finding your next travel assignment for the warmer months, we’ve put together a list of locations with the highest current hiring demand, along with why each might be a spectacular place to live. Time to get to know your potential new home a little better!

Maryland

No, Maryland is not all crab cakes and football—it does do those things (and might we say the crab cakes are delectable), but it has so much more to offer to the summer traveler! Nestled right on the Atlantic coast is the state’s largest city, Baltimore. Rife with incredible museums and restaurants, Baltimore’s crown jewel might be its picturesque Inner Harbor, where you can get lost in views of historical ships or inside its innumerable eateries and shopping hotspots. If you’re looking for a coastline without a major city, you can venture to one of Maryland’s many smaller resort towns to soak up the sea and eat up the seafood. Did someone say crab cakes?

California

If coastal city life is your vibe, you’ll have a wealth of choices this summer in the Golden State. The headliners, of course, are California’s iconic metropolises in San Diego, Los Angeles, and San Francisco—but, if you’re looking for the quiet comforts of a smaller locale, the state has an abundance of metro suburbs and tiny surf towns spread from the redwoods to the Baja. Can’t you smell the sea air just thinking about it? California isn’t all sand and surf, though—in fact, this massive state houses three of the most well-known National Parks in the country: Yosemite, Sequoia, and Joshua Tree. That’s not to mention the six other national parks or the little slice of wine country California calls its own. Summer adventures sit on the horizon.

Massachusetts

Tucked away in New England, Massachusetts, is an ideal destination for travelers seeking a classic summer experience. In its capital, Boston, you can enjoy the spoils of city life without feeling like you’re in a major metropolis. Beantown isn’t short on the nightlife or restaurants you want in a city. Still, it retains a historic aura, showcasing architecture and landmarks like the Boston Common and Bunker Hill that have been around for centuries. If you hop on the Mass Pike for a short drive, you’ll have entered one of the pinnacles of Northeastern summer—Cape Cod. The beaches buzz each summer as warm weather takes over, each beach town offering visitors a unique and vintage experience on the water. Don’t forget to check out the whale watching tours in Provincetown!

Florida

A journey to the Sunshine State for the summer is just what the traveler ordered! Splitting the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico, Florida provides a wide variety of options to travelers who want to soak up the warmth. Whether you are looking to dance your summer away within the vibrant nightlife of Miami or hit the open water on a boat in Fort Lauderdale, the Florida coast can be done in so many exciting ways. Maybe you want to cozy up on your favorite beach chair in Sarasota. Whatever your desired lifestyle, Florida has a special locale to make this summer memorable.

Washington

Sitting up and away in the stunning Pacific Northwest, this mesmerizing slice of outdoor bliss often flies under the radar as a summer destination. Washington’s largest city, Seattle, is a beautiful sight to behold—and one of the predominant havens for the arts, coffee, and beer. It is where Starbucks and Nirvana got their starts, after all! For you, travelers who want to spend your summer as one with nature, Washington amazes with its breathtaking national parks, mountains, and evergreen coastline, right up to the Canadian border. Though it’s not the state for those seeking a tropical getaway, Washington will have you spending every available second out-of-doors this summer.

Hopefully, this destination overview gave you an idea of the summer job market for allied travelers and better acquainted you with each location. Each destination boasts its own unique allure, but, in the end, the choice is yours!
