Top Regions for California Allied Travel Jobs

Southern California

On the state's southernmost tip is San Diego, dubbed by locals and visitors as “America’s Finest City.” With miles and miles of sprawling beaches--including Coronado Beach, which ranks in the country’s top 10--a world-famous zoo, and world-class medical facilities, there’s so much for allied travelers here. There are fun and eclectic beach communities, a thriving downtown, Mexico just 20 minutes to the south, and mountains less than an hour to the east--so spend some time exploring. Check out the cool restaurants in the trendy neighborhoods of Hillcrest, North Park, or La Jolla, or spend some time up in Oceanside at the pier. This is a city that really has it all!

The Orange County and Los Angeles areas are teeming with allied healthcare job openings just to the north. While visitors often flock to Disneyland, Universal Studios, Hollywood, and Rodeo Drive, allied travelers also have time to explore everything from the Getty Museum and the Queen Mary to world-famous beaches, sporting venues, and the LA Fashion District. Day trips or quick getaways to Palm SpringsOjai, and Santa Barbara are entirely feasible if you’re on assignment in LA, OC, Riverside, San Bernardino, or the Inland Empire.

Speaking of the desert, allied travelers have access to a number of jobs in the Palm Springs area, including Palm Desert, Rancho Mirage, and outlying cities. Dining, golf, 4-wheeling, star gazing, shopping, and taking the aerial tram up the mountain to San Jacinto are just some of the big attractions here. And, if the heat gets intense, there are numerous pools, water parks, and air-conditioned venues in the area to cool you off; plus, it’s always an easy escape to the beach!

Central California

Securing an allied healthcare job in the central part of California offers plenty of freedom and choices for hikers, skiers (water and snow), and other adventurers. Foodies will also appreciate the real farm-to-table experiences of living close to “the nation’s salad bowl” and a wealth of local vineyards. FresnoModestoSalinas, and Merced are all cities where Med Travelers consistently has job openings and smaller towns nearby. Along with museums and other attractions in Fresno, the area’s largest city, Yosemite National Park, is just a little over an hour’s drive away.

The Central California region also features Big Sur on the coast (a MUST if you’re in the area) and the Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks in the inland areas. If driving through Big Sur, take the winding State Route 1 north all the way up to the Bay Area or south to San Luis Obispo, and get ready for views of a lifetime.

Northern California / Bay Area

Northern California’s Bay Area remains a hot spot for jobs, not just for the tech-savvy in Silicon Valley. San Francisco--the famous “City by the Bay”--and up-and-comers like San JoseSanta ClaraOakland, and others have plenty to offer allied healthcare professionals. You can choose from various assignment types, from bustling city environments to quieter clinical settings in the suburbs and surrounding communities.

And on those glorious days off? Along with tourist favorites like Alcatraz Island, Pier 39, and fresh seafood restaurants (with incredible sourdough bread), allied travelers can enjoy places like the picturesque seaside community of Sausalito, Golden Gate Park, and first-class cultural events. Favorite day trips may include visits to nearby Monterey Bay Aquarium, the Monterey National Marine Sanctuary, and Carmel by the Sea. Or travelers can head about 3 hours east to the scenic area of Lake Tahoe or an hour north to Napa Valley’s wine country. In fact, your biggest issue may be deciding what to do since there are so many options. Music festivals, sporting events, races, and good food can be found around nearly every corner.
