
Permit Update: More California Jobs Coming Your Way
Effective October 1, 2020, The California Department of Public Health, Radiologic Health Branch (CDPH-RHB), the CDPH-RHB will provide an expeditious pathway for eligible Radiologic Technologists to receive the California Radiologic Technologist Fluoroscopy Permit without taking the Fluoroscopy examination administered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT®).
Individuals who meet the following criteria are eligible to receive a California Radiologic Technologist Fluoroscopy Permit without taking the Fluoroscopy examination administered by the ARRT®: Individuals who have graduated on or after January 1, 2011, from a diagnostic radiologic technology program accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) and passed the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) radiography examination. OR Individuals certified by ARRT on or after January 1, 2011, in Radiography and who are current ARRT registrants.

Application Process with Eligibility
Effective November 2, 2020, individuals who are eligible to receive the California Radiologic Technologist Fluoroscopy Permit without taking the Fluoroscopy examination must submit the Radiologic Technologist Fluoroscopy Permit Application - Examination Not Required form CDPH 8228 (11/20). The form can be found under “Radiologic Technologists (RT) Forms” at the Radiologic Health Branch, Radiologic Technology and Nuclear Medicine Technology webpage.
Application Process without Eligibility
Effective November 2, 2020, individuals who are not eligible to receive the California Radiologic Technologist Fluoroscopy Permit without taking the Fluoroscopy examination must submit the Radiologic Technologist Fluoroscopy Permit Application - Examination Required form CDPH 8218 (11/20). The form can be found under “Radiologic Technologists (RT) Forms” at the Radiologic Health Branch, Radiologic Technology and Nuclear Medicine Technology webpage.
