Respiratory therapist job duties involve assisting patients of all ages who suffer from pulmonary (breathing) disorders. In addition to analyzing and performing diagnostic testing, these clinicians must perform exams and control patients’ blood-oxygen levels. To monitor or assist breathing, they must also set up and use cardiopulmonary equipment — machines that can sometimes be hazardous and require careful adherence to safety precautions. Respiratory therapist jobs are most frequently located in hospital settings; however, many CRTs and RRTs also work in jobs in nursing care and home care facilities.
Med Travelers accepts applications from all levels of education and experience. Respiratory therapists at the advanced level are typically more in demand; these roles require certification (CRTT) and a relevant associate’s or bachelor’s degree from an accredited program. Also in demand are respiratory therapists experienced in working with infants or the elderly.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average respiratory therapist salary ranges between $26 and $27 per hour, or about $56,000 per year, depending on experience, training, specialization and employment location. Some respiratory therapist employment opportunities offer more pay if the candidate possesses higher levels of training and/or experience.

Med Travelers offers a broad range of certified respiratory therapist jobs and registered respiratory therapist jobs at competitive salary levels, as well as a full suite of benefits that includes free housing, partial expense compensation, and a range of bonus opportunities. Our recruiters will help you acquire any state licenses you need for your assignments; you also get free liability insurance, and comprehensive health insurance.
