Physical therapist assistant job duties include working under the direction of physical therapists to provide treatment and rehabilitative services to patients who have experienced disabling disease or injuries. Among other assigned duties, physical therapist assistants are tasked with providing patients with massages, exercises, electrical stimulation, paraffin baths, hot and cold packs, traction, and ultrasound, and must monitor and document patient treatment and response.

Working in a variety of healthcare facilities including outpatient treatment centers and clinics, PTA schedules may include part-time, full-time, night or weekend shifts, and the role itself may involve physical exertion (lifting and transportation of patients).

To be hired by Med Travelers, physical therapist assistant job seekers are typically licensed and have an associate degree from an accredited program. These education courses vary greatly throughout the U.S.; some require prospective PTAs to complete physiology and anatomy courses and obtain certification for CPR and basic lifesaving skills.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the full-time physical therapist assistant salary rate is approximately $24 per hour on average, although some PTA jobs may offer as much as $52,000 per year. Physical therapist assistant salaries will also vary depending on level of education and experience, as well as type and location of employment facility (general medical and surgical hospitals and nursing care facilities tend to offer the highest range of pay).

Med Travelers offers physical therapist assistant jobs in each of these settings and provides hourly wages comparable to standard earnings within the industry, as well as a wide range of benefits — including free housing, expense compensation, friend referral bonuses, free liability insurance, and comprehensive health insurance. We also provide 30 days of insurance coverage between assignments — road trip, anyone?
