Histotechnologist job responsibilities include practice of advanced clinical histology, including tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, staining and sectioning. Histotechnologists recruited by Med Travelers are also expected to be proficient in the maintenance of equipment related to histology; advanced-level clinicians may require special skills in immunohistochemistry, including working with special stains and frozen tissue sectioning.
Travel histotechnologist jobs staffed by Med Travelers require a bachelor's degree (usually in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, chemistry, or biological science). Histotechnologist job applicants must also be HTL (ASCP) certified or HTL registry eligible as defined by the ASCP. Preferred candidates for advanced histotechnologist jobs should have a minimum of two years direct work experience.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, histotechnologist salary rates are currently about $27 per hour, or about $58,000 per year, depending on experience, training, specialization and location of employment.
